Covid-19 WHY
In January 2020 the United States was enjoying the benefits of the best economy in the history of the world. Then out of China, the whole world was attacked by a microscopic beast known as CoronaVirus 19. This pandemic virus affected virtually every country in the world with confirmed infections over the 3 million mark and deaths over 200,000. It and the fear of infection has closed national boundaries and halted travel and caused millions of people to be quarantined in their homes so as not to spread the pandemic. 2.6 million Americans are unemployed The economic effect of this virus on just the United States is well into the trillions of dollars and rising. Economies are shut down as stores are shuttered and people are in a panic over getting necessary foods, supplies, and medicines for their families.
The question we ask is why would a loving God allow such a catastrophe to occur. However the Bible nearly 200 times refers to such incidents as plagues. God for the last 6000 years has allowed plagues or pestilences to affect nations and peoples and even individuals.
God uses these such calamities for two reasons. One reason is for judgments against unbelieving nations such as Egypt’s 10 plagues in a time of Moses because they held the Israelites captive. God also uses plaques to punish those individuals and nations who commit abominations against His law.
“…thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her. And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.”
Leviticus 18:20-22.
He also plaques to draw his people back to him. We read of people like Job, Mariam, Naaman, and others who were afflicted by diseases to bring them into a right relationship with God. The nation of Israel was plagued because King David decided to do a census of his military strength that God forbid. Once David repented the plague was stopped at the very place where God wanted the temple to be constructed.
When David’s son Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem God answered his prayer of dedication by telling the nation what to do in times of trouble, saying:
“And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:12-14
The action required by God is addressed to ‘my people, which are called by my name’ which is a reference to the Church who are called Christians and the people of God. However, instead of calling for prayers from America's churches, our national leaders and governors have closed them down preventing worship of Jehovah God. But at the same time governors have opened liquor stores and cannabis shops so people won’t turn against them. By pushing the Holy Spirit out of our society for the last few decades we have invited the evil spirits of drug and alcohol abuse into our society.
God also wants us to humble ourselves but we have chosen to rely on science instead of the Almighty God who could stop this plague in an instance. We have chosen to stay on the path that our country’s been on for many years. When it comes to solving a problem we just throw money at it. As of now, there have been over 4 trillion dollars spent trying to stop this plague. It is interesting to note that that would equal a stack of thousand-dollar bills nearly 100 miles high. And we don’t know what economic effects it will have by creating all this money out of nowhere with nothing to back it except they promise to pay it back with the lives and well-being of our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
God asked that we and pray, and seek my face but we seek to go our own way and rely on politicians to solve this pandemic by relying on scientists who cannot agree on what medications may help the victims and on testing that merely identifies the size of the problem but doesn’t cure it. Or wait a year or two for the development of a vaccine.
And lastly, we need to repent and turn from their wicked ways. And this gets to the real reasons God has allowed such disastrous pandemic to affect our country and our world. We have committed the two most grievous abominations against God’s natural laws and holiness. These actions demand God’s judgments as he did in Sodom and with the worshipers of Moloch who sacrificed their children to this Baal God. We have openly allowed the sins of sodomy to flourish in our country even to the point that every television program has to have a sodomite on its cast and they are generally the most favored person in the story. Also, we have sacrificed innocent life for our pleasure and convenience. 47.2 million babies had been killed by abortion thru 2017. And probably another 3.0 million since. That alone requires judgment for taking innocent lives
What American needs to do is follow God’s instructions If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face. God promises if we do that he will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. VP Pence uses the phrase ‘heal our land’ at the end of every press briefing, but healing will not come through social distancing, wearing masks, sanitizing, and washing hands constantly. The healing of our land will only come from the mercies of God response to the fervent prayers of his people.
But if we don’t want to pray and seek God’s help he has already told us what he will do and is already doing.
“My people are destroyed for lack of (Bible) knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
In the 1960s when my generation was beginning to become the leaders of the nation we removed God and the Bible, including the 10 Commandments from our schools because a child might read them and believe them. We also made sexual perversions of all kinds acceptable in movie theaters and TV, Eliminated all the programs that showed traditional family life with a father leader and the stay at home mother taking care of their children. Now we have reached the time were God’s words to Hosea are coming back on our country and God has forgotten our children. We need to call upon the Lord in humility and repentance and ask Him to heal our land and restore our churches to his standards before it is too late.
"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” Isaiah 55:6
On Veterans Day last year, I went to the Inspira hospital with what I thought was a severe sinus infection. We discovered that I had a touch of pneumonia and my cardiologist saw that my heart enzymes are not right. The next thing I knew I was in an ambulance headed for Cooper Hospital where three days later I received a triple bypass surgery that saved my life. The night before my surgery God gave me this verse:
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
I can testify that God brought me through that surgery with not so much as a pain or any complication even though the doctor promised to use an old rusty saw. God keeps his word and his promises to us. We just need to humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and He will show us great and mighty things to heal our land.
