To and Fro

In Jesus day He and his disciples traveled either by foot or on domesticated animals. The same way that people have traveled since creation. Many never left their local communities. It wasn't until the 16th century that sailing ships became reliable enough to cross oceans. In 1662 the first horse-drawn public bus system was introduced, but the main method of travel was still by foot or animal. In 1803 the steamboat and steam train, with 10 seats, were introduced to the public. The transatlantic steamship was introduced in 1838. The first subway system started in London in 1863. In 1883 Karl Benz invented the car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen. Then things began to change rapidly.
In 1899 Zeppelin built the first airship. 1903 gave us the Wright brothers airplane. The model T was introduced in 1908 and "to and fro" began to happen. The 20th century saw travel grow from horse and buggies to SUVs, diesels trucks and locomotives, and jet air travel. It is now possible to have breakfast in LA, lunch in NYC an sleep in London. Some people even go to Europe for evening dinner and then back home.
For six thousand, years man traveled mammal. but, in the last century travel has reached the point prophesied in Daniel 12:4. We run to and fro without any thought. We travel for work, for vacations or to visit friends and families in distant cities or anywhere in the world. Daniel said that his prophecy "even to the end of time" would be revealed and understood when "many run to and fro."
Daniel 12:4 "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."
