“...prepare to meet thy God...”

 

          When the prophet Amos wrote these words "two years before the earthquake" (Amos 1:1), he preached to a people very much like today's Americans. God word says "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required:" (Luke 12:48) and over the last 200+ years many blessings have been given to America. God requires much, from America, but, we want nothing to do with God, just as Israel in the days of the prophet Amos.

 

          In the beginning of Amos' prophecy, God declares judgment on Israel's enemies of Damascus, Gaza, Tyrus, Edom, Ammon and Moab for what they did to God's people. God has held America's enemies at bay for over 200 years because we were a Christian nation as Israel was God's people. But then God declares the un-repented sins of Israel, judgment follows.

 

Have Not Kept His Commandments:

 

"...I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:” Amos 2:4

 

          Since 1963 the America government has been on a plan to remove God's word from society systematically. It started in the schools and as a result, ‘assault’ has replaced ‘talking’ as the number one classroom problem. The ten commandments were removed from our schools because "a child might read them and practice what they say." Students who used to carry Bibles now carry guns. Our government once lead by godly men who built the greatest nation in the world are now replaced by power addicts bent on destroying everything moral and good on the basis of fairness.

“...because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes; That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:" Amos 2:6-7

 

          "Get all you can, can all you get" is the code of the day. Give no thought of your neighbor. Morality has become a most hated thing. The moral person is ridiculed. The righteous are thought of as strange. The godly are considered as troublemakers. An honest man is hard to find and then not trusted because no one else is trustworthy. What happened to the days when a man's word was his bond? Now even a written contract is not to be trusted for its loopholes. And the land wreaks with sexual depravity and sodomy.

 

"Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD." Amos 2:14-16

 

          In the past few years, America has been ambushed by a Somali warlord, driven back by rock throwing Haitians and totally embarrassed by military air disasters in Bosnia and Iran. And then there are all the terror attacks happening around the world. Our civil authorities are under attack by illegals and left wing groups wanting to destroy American democracy. American world leadership has fallen to the European and NATO alliances.

 

"Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years: And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.” Amos 4:4-5

 

          Even worship in America has become displeasing to God. "The house of God" Bethel is full of apostates, false teachers, thieves, and sodomites. The majority of America's pulpits are filled with those who do not believe that Jesus is God. New Age pantheism is mixed into the teaching of our churches. Even our service to God is contaminated with the leaven of false motives and greed.

 

Want of Bread:

 

"And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD." Amos 4:6

 

          American, this once Christian nation is filled with the homeless, the hungry and the poor. The 'war on poverty' waged without God, has produced a welfare structure that has crippled economic growth and produced even more 'poor' than when it started. But America will not turn to God.

 

"And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.” Amos 4:7-11

 

America has been judged with flooding in the Mid-West, and a great drought is the Southeast. Heavy snows paralyzed the Northeast, and the Southwest received fires and earthquakes. And Hurricane Andrew devastated Florida, Katrina destroyed New Orleans, and Sandy has flooded New Jersey and New York City. God wants our attention, but, America continues to remove all trace of God in society.

 

"Therefore thus will I do unto thee, 0 Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, 0 Israel. For, lo, he that formeth the mountains; and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name."  Amos 4:12-13

 

          God has tried to get the attention of America. America does not want to listen. Therefore, prepare to meet Him. This once respected world power is on a downward plunge to disaster. If America does not repent soon, all hope will be lost. God is very close to saying "I have had enough of this" and will answer with rapid and severe judgment as He did to Belshazzar and Babylon.

 

 "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:5-6

 

          America is in big trouble with all Almighty God. I am yet to find a society that has survived long after they began to kill their children. Abortion is still murder in God’s laws.

 

Where do YOU Stand with God?

 

          Where do you stand friend? Are you prepared to meet God face to face? Nations are made up of people, so when God judges this nation, you will be affected.

 

          "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18

 

          Do you believe that Jesus is God come in the flesh, born of a virgin, that He died on the cross to pay your sin debt to God, was buried and rose again and is coming soon for you? If not, then you are not prepared to meet God. You will receive the personal judgment of hell for eternity. You are condemned already. Get saved now. Just ask Jesus to save you. He will.

 

          "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Hebrews 9:27

 

All will be judged by a HOLY GOD.

 

"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." 1 Corinthians 3:13

 

           Christian, you to will be judged. God will not take your salvation, for Christ settled that forever. But, your work for God will be judged. When you see Him will you wish you had served Him better? Are your motives to give Him the glory or for self-gratification? After all, He's done for you how can you not serve Him.
